Category Museum / Interpretation centre

A Solaina de Piloño – Paco Lareo Foundation is a house-museum and art centre located in the parish of Piloño in Vila de Cruces, created with the aim of preserving and promoting contemporary Galician culture and art. The space occupies the old gallery (solaina) of the Casa do Ferreiro, a traditional Galician mansion that has been carefully restored thanks to the initiative of the painter Paco Lareo (1938–2012) and a group of artists committed to the cultural life of the Deza region. The building, with its stone architecture, wooden galleries and spacious interiors, is in itself a heritage site of great ethnographic value.

Inside, it houses an outstanding collection of works of art, bringing together pieces by renowned Galician and international artists. These include artists from the Deza region, such as Laxeiro, Colmeiro and Sucasas, alongside other nationally and internationally renowned artists. This diversity makes A Solaina de Piloño a meeting point between tradition and the avant-garde, reflecting the richness and influence of Galician art both within and beyond its borders.

In addition to its museum function, the Foundation carries out an active cultural and educational programme, organising temporary exhibitions, workshops, conferences and artistic discussion forums. These events keep alive the open and dialogical spirit that characterised Paco Lareo, who conceived this space as a house with open doors to art and thought. Today, A Solaina de Piloño is a cultural reference point in inland Galicia and an essential visit for those who wish to discover the creative and human legacy of the Deza region.
