Pedroselo Viewpoint (Serra do Candán)

Serra do Candán
Category Scenic viewpoint

The Pedroselo viewpoint is located in the O Candán mountain range (Serra do Candán), at an altitude of about 716 metres, in the place of Bustelos, in the parish of Vilatuxe. From this point visitors can enjoy a wide panoramic view that includes the Zobra mountains, the Deza River valley and its confluence with the Grobas stream, as well as nearby villages such as Porto Martín. The viewpoint also offers views of natural areas such as the Ameixedo, Bustelos and Moa oak groves, as well as Coto de Zobra, Monte Coco and the Testeiro mountains, providing a broad overview of the landscape surrounding Lalín. Access is located approximately one and a half kilometres from the village of Bustelos, following a dirt path on foot that begins near the chapel and heads towards the water reservoir. The Serra do Candán mountain range is characterised by peaks dominated by shrubland and large rocky outcrops, while its slopes feature oak woods and mountain meadows. This natural area also stands out for its biological diversity, with plant species such as birches and oaks, and wildlife including birds of prey such as the Eurasian eagle-owl and the peregrine falcon. The Serra do Candán range forms part of the mid-mountain landscape typical of the Terra de Montes region, with open horizons and low population density. In this area rise rivers such as the Lérez, the Umia and several tributaries of the Deza, reinforcing its natural and scenic importance within inland Galicia and making the viewpoint a privileged spot for observing the surrounding territory.
