The Rodeiro River Watermill is a representative example of the traditional watermills that used the power of flowing water to grind grain and other agricultural products, activities that were fundamental to the traditional rural economy of Galicia. These types of structures formed part of the river landscape of many parishes in the municipality, integrating with paths and farmland and becoming a common element of Galician ethnographic heritage.
The mill is located on the left bank of the river, in a natural setting that today forms part of local hiking routes. Built of stone, it has a rectangular plan and a gabled roof, and preserves characteristic elements of its original operation, such as the upper water reservoir that channelled water to the horizontal waterwheel (rodicio) and the system of channels that activated the milling mechanism. Its restored condition allows visitors to clearly understand the structure and traditional hydraulic use of the mill.
The restoration of the mill was carried out as part of a broader improvement of the riverside environment, since the structure had become deteriorated and partially hidden by vegetation. The intervention helped recover an element linked to rural memory and the traditional use of water, integrating it into an accessible natural setting of notable landscape value. This site reflects the historic relationship between rivers and the daily life of rural communities in the municipality.
