The Hermitage of Our Lady of Fátima is a small Catholic temple located in the municipality of Lalín, in a rural area close to the town centre. It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima, whose devotion spread widely after the apparitions of 1917 in the Portuguese town of Fátima, expanding throughout the 20th century across many regions, including Galicia.
The building was constructed in 1992 and inaugurated by the Bishop of Lugo, José Gómez González, as a place of worship for the faithful of nearby parishes and rural communities, especially during Marian festivities. It has a rectangular floor plan, a two-sided pitched roof, and side walls with stained-glass windows that provide natural light to the interior. The main façade features a semicircular arched entrance and a bell gable with a bell and cross, elements that make it easily recognisable within the surrounding landscape.
In addition to its religious function, the chapel serves as a reference point for the local community and as an example of the introduction of new devotional traditions in rural Galicia during the 20th century. Its presence in the surroundings of Lalín highlights the continuity of popular religious traditions and the important role that small rural chapels play in the parish life of Galicia.
