Casa da Capilla is located on the banks of the River Ulla, beside the old Roman bridge of Ponte Ledesma and just a few metres from the five islands of Gres, one of the most beautiful natural settings in Galicia. The house, whose original construction dates from before 1900, was completely renovated and opened to the public in 2007. In the past it served as a rural tavern and later as a temporary storehouse for products brought from nearby villages to be sold at local fairs.
The establishment has eight rooms, a restaurant with capacity for 50 diners, a bar and a terrace. The carefully designed decoration includes works by the contemporary artist Bernardino Mendoza and seeks to maintain harmony with the house’s origins, its natural surroundings and the wellbeing of visitors. Casa da Capilla offers a rural, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, as well as a gastronomic proposal based on the Atlantic diet, prepared with natural local products. Meals can be arranged on request and all kinds of events (weddings, baptisms, communions, etc.) are organised with personalised menus.
